Brasserie T!

Last week, I went to Brasserie T! with a friend of mine. It stands alone in a glass rectangle beside Musée D’Art Contemporain de Montréal in the Place des Arts. It's really futuristic and different. The restaurant has a really welcoming atmosphere with nice informative waiters and waitresses. The menu is simple but really good. I would go back and try everything there.

I couldn't decide between the Flank Steak, Toque Butter & Fries and the Salmon with Dill & Fennel Salad. The waitress described the salmon as a more 'adventurous' choice. She said it was cooked confit which is rare for salmon. Confit means to cook a meat in its own fat and then cover and preserve it in the same fat to prevent it from spoiling. It's cooked very slowly. I obviously had to experience the salmon. It was seriously like nothing I have ever had. It looked raw and had a raw texture but didn't taste like raw salmon. It tasted sweet and salty and really delicious. The fennel salad was a great accompaniment to the dish. The licorice flavour went well with the salmon and dill.

My friend had the Flank Steak, Toque Butter & Fries. It was simple but cooked perfectly and the flavours were great. For dessert, we shared the creme brulee. I loved it because it was in a flatter dish than usual so there was a good balance between creamy, custardy goodness and the hard, caramelized shell. I would definitely recommend Brasserie T! and I look forward to my next meal there!
