Le Local

I've been wanting to try Le Local for a while. I finally had the chance to go with five of my best girlfriends. The restaurant is right in Old Montreal and it's really beautiful. The entire experience was wonderful. The service was great and the food was delicious. It's rare that you go out to eat with six people and EVERYONE loves their meal.

Sarah and Shoshi started off with the salmon tartar w/ truffle oil and lime juice. It was one of the best tartars I've ever tasted. The lime and truffle oil were not overpowering so you really got to taste the fresh salmon. I had the cream of whitefish soup, toasted farmhouse bread and roasted garlic. It was incredible! I love cream soups but this one was special. The soup wasn't fishy at all. It was rich and garlicy! The flavour of the farmhouse bread with roasted garlic on top dipped in the soup... omg.

For dinner we almost all had something different. I had the East cost cod, ricotta gnocchi à la Puttanesca, barigoule artichoke, rapini, anchovy purée and fried cappers. It was so fresh! The flavours worked really well together. The cod was cooked perfectly and the gnocchi was delicious. I don't like capers but when they're fried... woah! Amazing!

Shoshi had the Duck leg confit, warm grilled vegetable salad, avocado, poached egg, parmesan shavings, watercress and orange mayo

Erin had the Grilled grain fed veal cutlet, vine tomatoes, mozzarella, extra-fine green beans, basil and Vincotto

Sarah had the Cheese ravioli, duck confit, shiitake, and arugula

Anna and Rebecca had the Organic salmon, parmentier garnish, Brussels sprouts and spicy pancetta, sweet garlic and Dijon mustard velouté

Everyone licked their plate clean!
